Aesthetic Treatments During Pregnancy

March 19, 2026

“Can I still get treatments while I’m pregnant?” The short answer is some, yes but many aesthetic procedures are paused out of an abundance of caution.

At Natural State Aesthetics, one of our top priorities is safety. If there isn’t clear data supporting a treatment’s use during pregnancy, we recommend waiting. Pregnancy can also increase skin sensitivity, redness, and the risk of unwanted pigmentation, making certain treatments more unpredictable. During pregnancy, hormone levels shift significantly, which can affect how your skin heals, reacts, and holds pigment.

What Is Considered Safe During Pregnancy

Think of pregnancy as a time to support and protect your skin, not push its limits. The good news is you don’t have to put your skin completely on pause while you’re expecting. There are several pregnancy safe treatments that can help maintain healthy, glowing skin.

Pregnancy safe options at Natural State Aesthetics include:

-Planty facial

-Planty Plus + facial

-Pore Cleansing facial

-Lymphatic drainage add on

-Red light therapy

Medical grade skincare also plays a huge role during pregnancy. Many patients benefit from ingredients like antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and barrier repair products to help manage acne, dryness, and sensitivity. Our favorite products include Epicutis Arctigenin Brightening Treatment and Epicutis Lipid Serum.

Every pregnancy is different, so treatments should always be personalized and performed under the guidance of a trained provider.

What to Avoid (and Why)

While pregnant, certain treatments are typically avoided due to limited safety data, systemic absorption concerns, or increased skin reactivity.

These commonly include:

-Injectables such as Botox and Daxxify

-Laser treatments like BBL, Moxi, Opus, or laser hair removal

-Medium to deep chemical peels

-Microneedling due to the numbing cream needed

-Topical retinoids and certain prescription acne medications

Pregnancy also increases the risk of melasma and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Heat and trauma based treatments can make these concerns worse, which is why we usually recommend waiting until after pregnancy to resume more aggressive procedures.

When to Resume Treatments Postpartum

After delivery, many patients are eager to restart aesthetic treatments and timing matters.

In general:

-Gentle facials and skincare can usually continue right away

-Injectables and laser treatments are often resumed after pregnancy and breastfeeding

-More advanced resurfacing or tightening treatments are best timed once hormones begin to stabilize

A postpartum skin consultation allows us to reassess your skin, address changes that occurred during pregnancy, and create a personalized treatment plan that fits your goals.

With the right guidance, you can maintain healthy skin during pregnancy and set yourself up for great results postpartum. If you’re unsure what’s safe for you, a consultation with one of our providers can help you navigate your options with confidence and peace of mind.
