CO₂ Laser Resurfacing

What Is CO₂ Laser Resurfacing?
CO₂ laser resurfacing is a treatment that uses a highly focused beam of energy to remove layers of damaged skin with microscopic accuracy. As the laser gets rid of old and uneven tissue it stimulates the body’s natural healing process and activates new collagen production.
The result? Skin that feels firmer, smoother, and more youthful from the inside out. A full face CO₂ treatment targets both superficial and deeper imperfections, addressing the full spectrum of pigments, wrinkles, tightening and environmental damage in one comprehensive session.
Why It’s Known as the Gold Standard
-Depth and precision: The CO₂ laser can be adjusted to reach the exact depth needed to treat wrinkles, scarring, and laxity.
-Comprehensive results: One procedure can dramatically improve texture, tone, and tightness across the entire face.
-Collagen remodeling: The laser’s heat energy stimulates long term collagen renewal, improving firmness for months after treatment.
-Proven performance: Backed by years of research and consistent patient satisfaction.
The Procedure:
Your journey begins with a consultation with Dr. Heymann at Natural State Aesthetics, where your skin will be assessed and determine your ideal treatment plan.
The procedure itself is performed under general anesthesia at our outpatient surgery center, ensuring maximum comfort and precision throughout the process. During the treatment, Dr. Heymann uses the CO₂ laser to treat damaged layers of skin across the entire face.
The process typically takes about forty-five minutes, depending on your individual needs. Because it is performed in a surgical setting, patients benefit from advanced monitoring, sterile technique, and a comfortable experience from start to finish.
Recovery and Results
Following your procedure, you can expect several days (up to a couple weeks depending on the depth of treatment) of downtime as your skin heals and regenerates. Immediately after treatment your skin will appear red and slightly swollen, similar to a sunburn. Over the next one to two weeks gentle peeling will reveal fresh and renewed skin underneath.
Most patients begin to see noticeable improvements once the initial healing phase is complete, with continued enhancement as new collagen forms over the following months. By three to six months the skin will continue to improve.
With proper post treatment care, results can last for years. Many patients choose to maintain and continue to improve their rejuvenation with our medspa treatments or our other laser treatments such as our “Bright and Tight” Laser Trio.
Ideal Candidates
CO₂ laser resurfacing is ideal for individuals looking to address significant signs of aging, sun damage, or scarring. It is especially effective for those who have lighter skin tones (skin types I–III on the Fitzpatrick scale) and want more dramatic and longer lasting results than what topical products and low downtime procedures can provide. CO₂ laser resurfacing is recommended for lighter skin because of a lower risk of hyper/hypopigmentation and scarring, and more predictable collagen response but other skin types can be treated with proper preparation.
With expert guidance and preparation the transformation is a great investment in both your skin and your confidence. When you’re ready to explore whether this treatment is right for you, Natural State Aesthetics will help you navigate your options and create a plan tailored to your goals.
